Expert surgeons providing high quality care
Upper GI West was founded in 2008 by Mr Alan Thomas and Mr Krishna Epari. The practice has grown significantly during this time to now include additional surgeons, a bariatric physician and specialist dietetic services.
Our surgeons have subspecialised in Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery having first completed their basic General Surgery training - and can offer the latest minimally invasive laparoscopic and endoscopic surgical procedures or traditional open surgery methods, for the services provided at Upper GI West.

Am I a candidate for bariatric surgery?
Find out how we look beyond just your BMI to assess if you are a candidate. We consider aspects like your waist circumference and your general health conditions to determine if the surgery is for you.
What lifestyle changes am I expected to make?
We will help you make good dietary choices and encourage you to exercise regularly. We believe that good long term outcomes are all about working together and looking at your weight loss surgery as only one aspect of the journey.
How does bariatric surgery work?
Obesity surgery is not just restricting the volumes of food in your stomach. We help you overcome this rather limited understanding of bariatric surgery. It's a procedure that affects your hunger sensations , your gut hormones, and the feedback to the brain.
